Currency Exchange

We are hanging around in Veracruz, Mexico, an international trading port in the Gulf of Mexico.

Besides watching the mesmerizing ship traffic from our hotel window, walking around the port itself, and going to the Acuario de Veracruz, we have also seen the famous fort that Hernan Cortez built to defend against pirates in the 1500s.

And, of course, being foodies, we like to try different restaurants and cafes around the city.

Today we take you to Ciobanus Restaurant.

For just 40 Pesos, about 2 bucks, we took an Uber from our hotel to the restaurant.

The reviews on this place seemed encouraging so we were looking forward to our lunch.

An international traveling friend of ours was interested too, so he joined us.

Here we are standing in front of Ciobanus.

Inside Ciobanus

We walked inside and the place was light and airy, with upbeat sayings written on the walls.

The first two adages say "I cook with wine. Sometimes I even add food" - and - "Today is a day perfect to be happy."

There were posters as well.

Belief in ourselves is vital to how we experience life!

Salmon with capers and asparagus, Ciobanus Restaurant, Veracruz, Mexico

Salmon with capers

We looked at the menu for a while and our friend ordered an "executive meal" for a fixed price that offered 3 courses including coffee and dessert. This is probably what the business people have at lunch. It was a great deal.

I decided on Salmon with capers and grilled asparagus.

Filet with Gorgonzola, Ciobanus Restaurant, Veracruz, Mexico

Filet with Gorgonzola

I think the best meal of the three off us was Billy's filet with Gorgonzola, Portobello mushroom with garlic and grilled potatoes.

It had terrific flavor and was cooked perfectly.
