Retirement; like your parents, but way cooler

In 1991 Billy and Akaisha Kaderli retired at the age
of 38. Now, into their 4th decade of this
financially independent lifestyle, they invite you
to take advantage of their wisdom and experience. |

Billy and I are
wandering around the City and we just witnessed a military display in the University of
Catania's plaza.
This University holds the
distinction of being the oldest university in Sicily (founded in 1434) and one
of the earliest in Italy.
The king of Spain, who at
the time was king of Sicily too, authorized this foundation with the privilege
of granting bachelor’s degrees and licenses to students of core disciplines.
However, it was ten years
later that the Pope finally gave recognition to this establishment, making it
official.

Front of the university building
After witnessing the soldierly display, we
wandered into a garden section thinking we'd take some good selfies with a
lovely background.
Many of
Catania's building are made of lava
rock, as you can see here, with the various shades of gray.
The gardens were manicured and
well-maintained.

Billy and Akaisha - one of our selfies
This is a graceful set of double steps
leading up
into this building. At the time we didn't know that this place was over 5
centuries old!

Two radio men from Zammu
As we sauntered around, we came upon some
windows looking into a large room with a sign that said: Radio Zammu.
Cool.
We have been interviewed on local radio
stations all over the US and in Thailand. Wouldn't it be
wonderful if we could get on-air here too?
One of the radio operators saw us peering
into the windows and came out to chat with us.

Billy and the radio guys
This man asked Billy a few questions, then
inquired if he wanted to be on the air and speak with the locals of Catania.
SURE!
Billy is having a blast joking around with
these guys, and meanwhile, half of Catania is listening to his beautiful sonoric
voice!

Tickets to a rock concert in town
After the interview, one of the young men
gave us tickets to a rock concert which started about the time we go to bed. But
it was a generous gesture, and we appreciated it!
Radio Zammu FM 101.00 started broadcasting on
January 1st, 2015.
Radio Zammù and Radio Lab share the same
frequency, and they are the two projects that have changed the way radio is done
in Catania. They "animate and renew" the cultural fabric of the city and are
committed to continue growing as the University's radio "voice".
