Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily, is a sensory overload in the best possible way.

It has a bustling street food scene and a lively music culture that creates an atmosphere that's both exhilarating and unforgettable.

Billy and I love to discover hidden gems right off the main streets, and A to' Casa is a funky jewel.

It's quirky, lively, friendly and also relaxed.

Let's take a look.

Aperol sprits, A to' Casa, Palermo, Sicily

An Aperol Spritz

The reason we came to this little bar/restaurant, is because it was near the hubbub of the main streets, but without the hassles. Plus you can enjoy a a drink, some appetizers or a real meal and observe the the street atmosphere.

Perfect.

While we have seen this brilliant orange drink all over Italy, it was the first time we tried one.

It's the classic Aperol spritz.

This refreshing cocktail is made with equal parts Aperol and Prosecco, topped with soda water and a slice of orange. It's a light and bubbly drink perfect for sipping on warm days.

Having an Aperol Spritz is ageless

Everyone sitting down at these tables were all drinking an Aperol - so it must be "THE" drink to be seen sipping!

The name "A to' Casa," translates to "At Home," so one can expect a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We were not disappointed.

Serving home-cooked, traditional dishes using fresh, local ingredients with a family-style service, this place had a friendly, relaxed environment and attentive staff.

This young couple were also drinking Aperols along with their Sicilian food.

The small opened round items on the plate in front of this young woman are Arancini - a standard Sicilian dish of stuffed fried rice balls. They are a favorite and popular street food which can be filled with meats, cheeses or vegetables. Sometimes they are served with a sauce underneath them or a dipping sauce.

As you can see on the chalkboard behind me, Arancini are being advertised along with pasta, hamburgers and salads.

Apparently, this bar gets rockin' later on in the evenings with various sorts of lively music.

In general, Palermo has a known live music scene with bars and clubs hosting local and international artists and A to' Casa is a well-known favorite spot among the locals.

Our bill for the 2 of us

On this particular evening, we simply stopped by for a drink, and this is our bill.

Coming to $12Euros, or about $13USD, we were intrigued enough to return.

Would we recommend coming here for a drink and some food?

Absolutely!
