Q and A
with a Reader - Dental Care in Mexico
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli
Billy/Akaisha:
Just
read the
Chen interview -- thank you for all the useful information and insight
(especially your early years/deciding on the "retiring early lifestyle").
Like
yourselves, we decided to not have children (still trying to raise ourselves and
not doing the best job at that so.... certainly not responsible or intelligent
enough to make a success out of parenthood).
-- You
mentioned that there is quality dental care in Los Algodones, Mexico area and
many Americans (Phoenix area) go there. Do you have any specific recommendations
of places (I looked and found Sani Dental Group and Castle Dental) and is it a
"safe" city for Americans?
Thanks
again for all your insight, lifestyle recommendations, and financial advice,
Michael
& Kathy Ryan

Hi
Michael and Kathy,
I'm
unclear as to what city you live in - only to say that there are many many
places in Mexico to get good dental care. Depending on where you are, Algodones
might not be the closest - or best - location.
For
instance, if you live in California, Tijuana might suit you better. OTOH, if you
live in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, you would have your choice of going to
Guadalajara,
Chapala, Merida,
Morelia,
Oaxaca, ... or even Costa Rica.
Depending on what you are considering having done, (bridges? crowns? tooth
implant? cosmetic dentistry?) you could save quite a bit of money and take a
vacation at the same time.
Any
large city in Mexico offers a variety of dentists and dental care.
You
might consider where you'd like to visit, relax or see some culture, and then
research dental services in that area.

I
recently had a crown put in at my dentist here in Chapala for $125USD. A few
years ago, I had a 4 point bridge put in in Panajachel, Guatemala for just over
$1,000. Billy had his tooth implant started in
Panajachel, Guatemala, but
finished here in Chapala. That tooth implant - all told - was under $1,000USD.
I'm not
trying to confuse you... It's just that you have many choices. We mentioned
Algodones because we lived in AZ for a while, and people were going there
regularly for dental issues.
If you
have further questions regarding this, feel free to ask.
A quick
look at "Dental
care in Mexico" gives you a variety of results.
I hope
you find this information to be useful.
Thank
you again for your kind comments, and for your patience in waiting for my reply.
Our Warm
Regards,
Akaisha
and Billy
