We are wandering around
Isla
Mujeres looking for this Argentine Grill Restaurant that Billy saw online.
GREAT reviews and it is
just ... on ... this ... street ... here.
Except that it wasn't.
We asked vendors and
passersby and other restaurants where this place was.
No one knew.
Carlos, the hawker at
X'catik Restaurant was especially friendly and helpful. He tried to help us find
this Argentine Grill too, but with no luck.
He suggested we eat at
X'catik... but that day we weren't interested.

The next day we walked by
the same area to try and find the Argentine Restaurant one more time.
Nada. Zip. Zero.
BUT
Carlos once again said
hello, recognizing us as the persistent Gringos looking for a non-existing
restaurant.
Again, he mentioned that
X'catik had good food, and perhaps we should consider eating there.
Really, what a nice guy.

We told Carlos "manana"
which is also a polite way of saying "Maybe... maybe not."
Refreshingly, he didn't
give us any attitude or become angry.
Definitely a plus for the
restaurant and this guy.

Physical menu at X'catik
The restaurant appears very
simple, kind of non-descript.
Earlier in the week we had
eaten a meal at a local tourist place and were really - really -
disappointed.
Their menu had all the
right things, but the meal had no flavor, no pizzazz and no attractive
presentation.
Should we chance it here at
X'catik?

Another menu, different
selections
Carlos was so nice, a real
gentleman.
Let's do it just to be nice
back.
How bad could it be?

Grilled octopus platter
We're at the sea, and
wanted to order some seafood.
So, grilled octopus it was
and we shared the meal.
Oh. Mi. Dios!! (OMG)
Presentation was
attractive, and the flavor was divine.
Had we known earlier...
yeah, yeah, Carlos said it was good...
If we had more days to stay
in Isla Mujeres, we'd have eaten here again and again.

Our bill for two
Here's our bill for the two
of us.
Though the price comes to
345Pesos, (about $17USD), clearly written on the bill is their money conversion
to $20USD.
We live in Pesos, but many
tourists don't, and this is an international destination.
Best for you to translate
your money at the ATM into the local currency, and save money on each purchase.
Would we return!
Absolutely.
Highly recommended.
