We were going to
Puebla!
Most of the time in
Mexico, one
can find hotels around
the Plaza
in the center of the city. This is excellent!
You are right in town
for the action,
the
restaurants that always surround the plaza, the church and the relaxing
Plaza itself.
Billy checked the map of
Puebla,
and found Hotel Santiago.
We arrived at the airport in Puebla and
purchased a taxi ride to get to the
Historico Centro in town. A thirty minute ride from the airport, the
price was 350Pesos.

Map of the center of Puebla, Mexico
The green rectangle in the center of this
map is the Plaza in Puebla. As you can see, the hotel that Billy chose,
Hotel Santiago, is right next to it! just a stone's throw away.
Perfect!

The pricing of rooms at Hotel Santiago
These are the normal prices for rooms at
Hotel Santiago, but we negotiated a discount. Instead of paying 660Pesos a
night (about $33USD) we paid 429Pesos (about $21USD).

Hotel check-in clerk
Check-in at the hotel was a bit of a
runaround, with the desk requiring us to wash our hands at the portable sink
in the lobby. Then we had to put gel on them while they took our
temperature.
At the desk we had to show our ID, pay in
advance, and sign the entrance form in 3 different places. Then we received
our keys, the remote control for the TV, and the WiFi code.

The beautiful roof top view at Hotel
Santiago
While I was getting our room settled,
Billy ran upstairs to get a shot of the Church from
the roof top terrace since the lighting was perfect.
Behind the maroon sun umbrella that you
see here was
Attico
303 Skybar, where we had dinner that first night.

Cathedral of Puebla, Mexico
The Cathedral at night is a glorious
site.
In 1862, there was a huge battle here in
front of this church called The Battle of Puebla. The French tried to
establish themselves in this part of Mexico because Europe was interested in
Mexico's silver mines. But Mexican forces defeated the French army on May 5,
which became the "Cinco de Mayo" reference we in the States hear about.

Shower packets in Hotel Santiago

The hotel offered various shower packets
and body creams as well. The bathroom had a hair dryer, hot water and the
room in general was very clean.
We were also provided with TV, internet,
a desk and blankets when we asked.
Hotel Santiago has a great location and
their rooms were quiet. Check them out next time you are in Puebla, Mexico!
