Retirement; like your parents, but way cooler
In 1991 Billy and Akaisha Kaderli retired at the age
of 38. Now, into their 4th decade of this
financially independent lifestyle, they invite you
to take advantage of their wisdom and experience. |

The food selections at
restaurants on
Zicatela Beach are more unique and creative than those on the larger,
family-style beach of
Playa Principal.
If you are looking for
something uncommon to make a food memory, check out the restaurant selections on
this side of
Puerto Escondido.

View of the beach from Terraza Zicatela
Zicatela is known for its international surf
competitions held in November of each year. The "pipeline" here is quite famous.
From
Terraza Zicatela, this is your view.
Notice the beach volleyball net to the left.

Menu
One of the menus at Terraza.
You can order octopus
tacos, smoked sailfish tostadas, Creole salad, or a ceviche with fresh coconut,
Serrano lime, shaved red onions and cilantro.
The shrimp tacos listed
above are served with a Mexican smoked chili paste made with dried shrimp,
avocado leaves, garlic, vinegar and salt. It is a local specialty paste
made in the mountains of
Oaxaca.
The first ceviche with
shrimp has a macha de semillas. This is a "semi-paste" made with sunflower
seeds, sesame seeds, walnuts, garlic, dried chilis and coconut oil.
LOTS of flavors going on
here on this menu!

Drink menu
At the top of this drink
menu you see the typical Tequila Sunrise and Daiquiri, but also a coffee
cocktail called Carajillo. This cocktail can be served hot or cold, depending on
the bar. In Mexico, normally this drink is served hot with either Licor 43 (43
secret ingredients), tequila or mezcal.
Speaking of
mezcal you see a
list of craft
mezcales as well as "Ancestral Legacy" mezcales as well. Oaxaca is
the leading maker of mezcal. It has a far smokier taste than tequila, and is a
whole world of its own.
Then of course, being
Mexico, you also have your
tequilas.

Green salad with apple
This is an ensalada verde with arugula,
lettuce, green apple, cucumber, pumpkin and sesame seeds, served with a citrus
vinaigrette.
Billy said it was outstanding.

Seafood Pasta
Pasta Marinara with shrimp,
octopus, clams, and mussels with a cream sauce, cracked black pepper and grated
Parmesan cheese.
Yummy!

Bill for two
All of this food, with wine and tip came to
$31USD.
AND with a beach view.

White wine with view of the beach
Billy went back several
times because the food was so tasty and beautifully presented.
Here's a glass of afternoon
wine and a spacious view.

Night vista of the beach
At night the beach was lit up and with the
sound of the waves, it was a very peaceful view.
Would we eat here again?
Absolutely.
