Location of Puerto
Escondido from Guadalajara Airport
Puerto Escondido is located
in the State of
Oaxaca.
It's known for its beautiful beaches, including the internationally famous
surfer beach, Zicatela. It's a short 1.5 hour flight from GDL airport and
is a great place to visit, when the chill hits
Chapala
in winter. Enjoy our pictorials, stories and videos below.

Where Life Is a Breeze Puerto
Escondido, Mexico A late
afternoon view of Zicatela beach from the lookout point. Although the
surfers are not currently out, this is where the action is. Of course it
depends on which kind of 'action' one is looking for. Up at the farthest
beach point in the photo towards Huatulco is a nude beach. |

A Great Place to Chill, Puerto
Escondido, Mexico
Mosaic tiled table and chairs beckon for customers to come in to this
little seaside bistro. Development has been explosive since we were here
a year ago, and artistically expressive cafes, restaurants and shops now
line a newly finished main road which is done in attractively designed
pavers. |
|
Puerto Escondido Revisited
We had a choice of taking a twisting
and turning 7 to 12 hour winding mountainous road trip on a bus or
shuttle as we had done a couple of years ago, or, as someone
recommended, take a more-or-less private flight from the city to one of
our favorite beach towns, Puerto Escondido. We took the flight. |

Ten Days in Puerto Escondido - Puerto Escondido 2021
Puerto Escondido, in the Mexican
state of Oaxaca, is an enticing location for beach goers. There's an
International Surfer attraction at Zicatela Beach, lots of hotels, and
restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines from which to choose.

Argentinos Steak House and Lobster Grill Puerto Escondido, Mexico
We have eaten at Argentine and
Uruguayan grills before and have been quite impressed with the quality
of the food, flavor of the entrees and the service of the waitstaff.
When Billy found this Argentine Steak House and Lobster Grill a few
blocks from his hotel in Puerto Escondido, he made plans to go there for
a special lunch. |
|
Chula Restaurant Playa Zicatela Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Being foodies, one of the
pleasures of travel for us is to try out different restaurants. We are
always looking for something unusual, with a different presentation or
sauce. Billy thought Chula Restaurant was a real find. Serving
Mediterranean food and Spanish tapas, Billy ate there several times.

The
Coastal Path Puerto Escondido, Mexico
The main attractions
of Puerto Escondido are its beaches, which have become internationally
known. There is a Coastal Path one is able to walk along the Pacific
Coast giving excellent views. We hiked this beautiful path years ago and
thought it would be fun to do it again. |

Terraza
Zicatela - Playa Zicatela, Puerto Escondido, Mexico
The food selections at restaurants
on Zicatela Beach are more unique and creative than those on the larger,
family-style beach of Playa Principal. If you are looking for something
uncommon to make a food memory, check out the restaurant selections on
this side of Puerto Escondido. |
|
Playa Manzanillo - Puerto Escondido, Mexico
There are several
including Zicatela, an international surfing destination, Playa
Principal a family oriented swimming beach, Puerto Angelito and this
sweet little beach, Playa Manzanillo. To arrive at this beautiful,
placid beach, you must now take a taxi. Or enter there by boat, of
course.

Playa Principal in Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Billy shows you the main swimming
beach in Puerto Escondido, named Playa Principal. It's much safer than
Zicatela beach, which is an international surfing location. See the
stately rock formations on the shore. |

Coconut Shrimp on Puerto Escondido Beach, Mexico
Billy shows you an active beach,
Puerto Principal, in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. He orders a meal of

The Coastal Path in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico
Billy shows you the coastal hiking
path in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. It's a beautiful hike, one we did some
years back. Today there is rumor that the bridge is out so the full path
is not available. Take a look! |
|
Licking Our Wounds in Puerto Escondido, Mexico
The continuing of the Pacific
Coast walking path had to be discontinued due to the bridge being washed
out! You can view that path on the video links included below. Billy
tells you the story. |
|
Playa Manzanillo, Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Billy shows you a very sweet beach
at the end of the Coastal Path called Playa Manzanillo. It's next to
Puerto Angelito, and the waters are calm and crystal clear. A quiet
beach worth a visit. Check it out here.

|
Puerto Escondido, Playa Zicatela, Mexico
Billy shows you the view of Playa
Zicatela from El Terraza Restaurant. Playa Zicatela is an
internationally known surfer beach where competitions are held each
November. Billy says the restaurants in Zicatela have a better, more
unique food selection than those further down the beach at Playa
Principal. Take a look! |
