Leaving
Manzanillo around 9 a.m., we caught a taxi for 700Pesos (about $37USD) to
take us to Melaque. It's under an
hour's drive to get there and arriving early in the morning, we unpacked and
walked around the well-known Expat beach town.

Map showing San Patricio Melaque
On the above map you can see both
Manzanillo and the much smaller town
of San Patricio Melaque.
Expats have favored this little beach town
for decades and one sees many "Gringos" walking around town.
It's on the route from Manzanillo to
Puerto Vallarta so the buses run through here often and it's an easy
stopover. The weather in Melaque is a particular draw especially for those
living in Canada and in the Northern United States.
Being a small town, there is a sense of
community with other Expats and the cost of living is affordable.

Fruit vendor selling from her truck
It's a common sight in Mexico to see fruit
vendors. This one is selling her tropical fruits right from the back of her
pickup truck.
So sweet and juicy!

On the beach!
Here we are on the gentle-waved beach looking
at one end of the bay. Restaurants and hotels line this area and the water is
warm and welcoming.

Looking the other way
From this same location on the beach we are
looking in the other direction.
The sun catches the water and creates such
sparkle!

Open air restaurant
Walking around town, we immediately went to
the beach and to this restaurant. You can see the distinctive view
Melaque has and one never tires of
it!
We ordered a couple of fresh coconuts and sat
down to enjoy the scenic view.

Akaisha drinking straight from a fresh
coconut
Fresh coconut water offers a variety of
health benefits. It is high in potassium and magnesium, low in calories and it's
fat-free!
It's a far better choice than sodas or sugary
drinks, making it ideal for hydration and detoxifying the body. The fresh
coconut meat inside is also delicious.
We like eating the coconut itself with some
freshly squeezed lime. The locals like it with ground chili and lime.

International signs on the beach
These signs are so fun and we see them all
over the world.
Sometimes they'll have destinations like
Cuba, or Colombia or New York City.
Here you can see Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec
and Las Vegas.

Mayalhe Trailer Park
This is a very popular trailer park, and
those who RV through Mexico love to stop here.
A few years back, some friends of ours stayed
here in their Class A rig.
Captain Ray
Gaines was one-of-a-kind, organizing RV barge trips on the Ohio,
Mississippi, and Tennessee Rivers. He would connect as many as seven narrow
river barges together and load them up with RV´s, becoming a flotilla RV park
traveling the inter coastal waterways of the US!
He was a courageous world traveler, and you
can read more
about him here.

Grilling Eggs
Ok, who's ever heard of
putting eggs on the grill to cook them? Am I the only one here who is naive to
this idea?
But why not, there is a
source of heat and it's already working for the sausage, carne asada and tripe,
so why not put some eggs on to cook too?

Lovely beach
Mexico's Pacific Coast is truly gorgeous and
worth a visit. The water is so blue and the beaches are stunning.
For sure, put Melaque on your list for places
to visit!
