Isla
Mujeres Ferry
Cancun to Isla Mujeres

Currency Exchange
We just spent a week in
Isla Holbox
and flew a
private plane from this island to Cancun.
The pilots were able to
avoid the approaching storm, but when we landed at the FBO section of Cancun
International airport, the skies were threatening.
The professionals at
this end of our trip arranged for us to have a combi/taxi to take us to the
ferry, so we could get to
Isla
Mujeres, our destination for the evening.
Everything was working
according to plan.

Outside the window to the wet streets
The cost of the taxi was 500 Pesos (about
$25USD) to take us to the ferry station.
It wasn't long before the storm crashed down
and traffic was muddled.
But we were dry and snug inside the taxi van,
so all was good.

Our ferry tickets from Cancun to Isla
Mujeres
We were able to use our INAPAM cards to get a
considerable savings on our round trip tickets.
A regular round trip ticket cost 600Pesos, or
1200Pesos for two (about $60USD). With our INAPAM discount, we purchased TWO
round trip tickets for a total of 280Pesos (about $14USD) and saved $46USD.
This is significant!

Inside the ferry
These ferries are wonderful - clean, new, and
comfortable.
There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but
due to the weather we grabbed indoor seats.
A young man played guitar and sang at the
front of these rows of seats, between the two doors leading into the bow of the
ferry.
While the boat is pretty stable, the music
was a great distraction from the movement of the sea, something I pretty much
always consider.

Topside
Here you see us on the top outside of the
ferry, looking as we approach Isla Mujeres.
It was
our first time there.

Another ferry
A returning ferry, going back to Cancun.

Wait staff selling drinks and snacks
Oh! Tequila by the shot or beer.
Did I mention that drinks and snacks are also
sold onboard?
Anything to make the 30 minute ride more fun!
Ferries run continuously so no worries about
catching one.
