Lilian's Coffee

Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico

One of the things we enjoy doing when we are traveling is to find gourmet coffee shops where we can savor the local pastries, cuisine and rich coffee. We have done this all over the world, from Guatemala to Vietnam.

When we visited Morelia, we discovered a chain coffee shop that delivered super coffees, pastries and wondrous fruit smoothies.

Take a look at Lilian's Coffee.

We had just enjoyed a morning walking to the Callejon de Romance, the Aqueduct and the El Jardin de la Villalongin. It was time for a gourmet coffee and a fruit smoothie!

The chalk board menus offer cappuccino hot or cold, plus various breakfast and lunch items.

We weren't far from the Historico Centro where Morelia's Main Cathedral is and some of the rooftop bars we have frequented during our visit. Downtown Morelia is surprisingly walkable.

And here we are at one of Lilian's Coffee houses. They are dotted around the city.

As you can see on the chalkboard to the left, they are selling breakfast as well, every day.

It's a beautiful little shop with an open air feeling because the natural light comes in from the skylight.

Morelia has many stone buildings comprised of the pink cantera stone from a local quarry. It's beautiful to see these walls all over town.

Billy ordered a super foamy Cappuccino and we split the cinnamon roll. I had a marvelous blackberry and yogurt smoothie that was just delectable!

Morelia is an aristocratic town, even this far from the Historico Centro. The cantera stone make for solid buildings and you can get a sense of what the city must have been like a few centuries past.

Today the wide streets are clean and have modern traffic lights, but "back in the day" it was horse and buggy that got you around.

Here you can see where Lilian's is in relation to the Callejon Del Romance, and Morelia Centro.

Just outside the map on the left is another Lilian's Coffee shop near the center of town.

Morelia is a fun town. Lots of restaurants with international flare, gourmet coffee shops, rooftop bars, parks, churches, and friendly people. Since it is so walkable, stop in at Lillian's for a coffee and a meal or snack.
