While in Boquete, Panama, we kept hearing about the town's best burger ever. Apparently they serve this yummy delight at Mike's Global Grill, so we had to go.

Situated across the street from the locally famous Sugar and Spice Restaurant and bakery, behind the Fish House just over the bridge on the creek, this is Mike's.

Mike's Global Grill

Michael and Heidi Rehm are the proud owners of "Mike's Global Grill" since May, 2011.

As the story goes, Mike took a cooking gig at the Amundsen-Scott Station in Antarctica and it began a 3-year career of being a chef for the crew of an isolated research station on the frozen continent.

Heidi worked as medical staff at the South Pole and eventually Heidi and Michael met in 2005 at the bottom of the world and fell in love.

While on vacation in 2011, Michael and Heidi were taken with Boquete and were able to realize their dream of running their own restaurant "overseas" with the purchase of this business.

Inside the Global Grill

Mike's is a popular hangout for watching sports on TV, utilizing free internet while lunching or having a beer, and there is live music Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting at 7:30 pm.

Along with this jovial atmosphere, there are also tables outside by the river if you would prefer to enjoy nature instead of the hubbub inside.

Mike and Heidi offer delicious entrees from around the world. Want English Fish and Chips? Middle Eastern Falafel? How about Authentic Pad Thai? You can find it here.

Hamburgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, wings and soup

Mike's offers bar food also, and we had several of their hamburgers here. They were a good price and quite tasty and there was plenty on the plate. No one goes hungry, that's for sure!

Or if you would rather have half a rotisserie chicken, a rousing fresh salad, a sandwich or wrap, there are many choices.

Mike's Midwestern style chili

Sometimes chili hits the spot, and this plate did not disappoint. Flavorful, this bowl was topped with cheese, chopped raw onions and fresh tomatoes.

Pulled pork sandwich

As you can see, there is plenty of food. This delicious Southern U.S. style pulled pork sandwich had a side of BBQ sauce, French Fries and Cole slaw. The pulled pork was slow roasted over a wood fire.

Our bill

Here is our bill for two Balboa beers, an ice tea and two Hamburgers.

No Jubilado discount here! Perhaps the discount is given on the full plates, but not the luncheon sandwiches and short meals.

Indoor/outdoor seating

This is a good view of the outdoor seating right in the middle of a  tropical garden and just a stone's throw to the creek.

Most certainly, if you are in Boquete, Panama, have a meal or a brew at Mike's Global Grill. Go dancing! Listen to the live music.
