Staying on a
Caribbean
Island can be expensive, and Sint Maarten is no exception.
Right across the street
from the many Diamond-and-gold jewelry shops, is this local yellow-shack
restaurant that sells Chicken, Rice and Pork Ribs as their specialty.
Fresh BBQ'd every day.
One of the security guards
of the jewelry stores recommended that we try this place, and he told us that he
eats here "every day."
Come check it out.

One of the owners
This brightly colored shack has 4 seats at
the counter and 3 or 4 tables.
I guess it gets rockin' at lunch time, as the
locals patronize this place - as they say - "every day."
With affordable pricing and a personal
recommendation, we were eager to try this one out.

The other owner, cookin' up some BBQ
A husband and wife team, the wife runs the
juice bar and the husband does the BBQ.
It's a simple operation, and social too.
Everyone in de islands are friendly, Mon.
While the locals patronize this eatery,
tourists like us come also.
So... It's good for the owners to be
amicable.

A closer look!
Here's a closer look at Mr. Husband turnin'
the BBQ.
As you can see, there are pork ribs on the
grill as well.
Yummers!

Billy getting chummy with the owner
Yeah.
Very, VERY social.
But it's all good.
It's a laid back, "Life is fer livin' " style
of interaction, and the locals love to have a good smile and a belly laugh.
Billy tries to get his photo with every good
looking woman around the world.
Here's a good example.

Chicken and rice
We bought 2 orders of chicken and rice to go,
and it came with a small salad.
The rice has the Caribbean tradition of red
beans mixed in with it.

We bought 2 orders
The first order was chicken and rice, this
one is rice and chicken.
It, too, came with a small salad and red
beans in the rice.

Bright yellow shack
This is the entire restaurant.
There are a couple of tables to the right,
just outside the photo.
Here you see the fresh bananas, mangos and
coconut all ready for the juicer.
Yup, we recommend this little eating place
located right in the middle of Old Town.
You can't miss it, as the yellow color is
pretty bright!
