Taking a Tour
Bus through Puebla, Mexico

We were in
Puebla, Mexico
and hanging out a lot at the
Zocalo.
We kept seeing these tour buses coming
and going and they seemed pretty popular, so we decided to take a city tour.

Tour buses lined up in this location
at the
Zocalo
One after another, buses would come and
go, lining up here at this location.
Behind this bus was the
Porfiriana Restaurant where we would meet up with friends and eat a meal
here almost daily.

Price for the tour
On the sides of the bus, the price of the
tour was clearly marked. No student discount, no senior discount, no nada.
But gee, for about $3USD we decided to go
for it!
This tour promised to take us to the old
neighborhoods and give us panoramic views of
Puebla.

A colorful street in Puebla, Mexico
These
streets
in Puebla are very clean. The buildings are painted bright colors and
there are potted plants everywhere!

Notice the Talavera tile around the
window
As we have mentioned before, Puebla is
famous for their tile work. Buildings, homes, churches and convents all over
the city celebrate this decorative tile.

Colorful buildings and local church
Unfortunately, I don't know the name of
this local church, and there are many throughout
Puebla.
But again, notice the clean streets and
manicured planter in the center.

Top of the town and a public park
The bus climbed and
climbed up in altitude until we stopped here at this public park for about
15 minutes. You can get a better view of this park by looking at
Billy's video here.

Barrio de los Artistas
This is the neighborhood of the Artists.
Notice the painted cobblestones in the center, and various places where the
Talavera tile is placed on the buildings.
Near this neighborhood, there is a
bar/cafe called
Cafe
Rentoy where we had a meal. Take a look!

A family on the tour bus back at the
Zocalo
We're back at the
Zocalo
in the center of town, and here's a family just starting out on the tour.
Some tour buses have a rooftop or a
canvas tarp on the top layer of the bus, but this one is wide open.
Bring a hat and some water!
Tour time is just over an hour, and it's
a good way to get your bearings around the city. For $3USD, what can you
lose?
