Cafe le Quartier is
located in the Sorbonne area near the Pantheon and offers outdoor seating with views of
some of the famous architecture of Paris. It's a well-regarded place for locals,
students and tourists alike who want a meal, glass of wine or a coffee.
The name "Latin
Quarter" originates from the Middle Ages when Latin was the common language of
scholars and students. The area's history dates back to
Roman times where two
main roads of the Roman city intersected near where the Sorbonne now stands,
making this area central to Roman Paris.
The Latin Quarter has always been a hotbed of
intellectual activity, with philosophers, theologians, and scientists gathering
here. Figures like Thomas Aquinas and Peter
Abelard were influential. And during the Enlightenment, the area was known for its cafes where intellectuals like
Voltaire, Rousseau, and later, Sartre, who would debate and discuss ideas that would
shape modern thought.
Here's a look at a local style cafe right
smack in the middle of the Latin Quarter.
Outdoor seating at the cafe
Known for
its unique blend of Parisian charm and a comic book theme, Cafe Le Quartier describes itself
as the headquarters of a private detectives agency, offering a quirky atmosphere
that differentiates it from typical Parisian cafes.
This cafe is praised for not
being a tourist trap, providing an authentic local experience. Food is prepared
on site with fresh ingredients.
Every day Happy Hour Specials

beers and cocktails offered at their daily happy hour.
More outdoor seating
As you can see by the people passing by all
snuggled up with hats, scarves and long coats, it was very chilly this day.
Across the street are some of the iconic
Haussmann buildings that Paris is famous for.
Even in weather like this, people love to sit
out of doors, have a coffee, and enjoy the atmosphere of being in Paris.
Grilled fish filet and fresh vegetables
It was too cold for us to eat outside, so we
chose the toasty indoor tables.
Here's a seared fish filet with fresh
vegetables, rice and lemon.
The Batroc Burger
This is what the menu calls a Batroc Burger.
Batroc is a fictional character in the Marvel
Comics universe. He is a mercenary and a master of the French form of
kick-boxing known as savate. So, this cafe named a burger after him!
Classic and delicious.
Our bill for 2
Our bill for the fish filet, burger and 2
silver beers came to $53.90Euros, or about $56USD.
If you want to experience some quintessential
Paris, stop by the Cafe Le Quartier Paris and enjoy yourselves!
