Chrishi
Beach Club
Nevis, West Indies

There is is a small,
secluded beach on the northwestern coast of Nevis called Chrishi Beach.
The name comes from a
Creole/Caribbean pronunciation of “Christ Church,” because the beach sits
directly in front of the historic Christ Church parish area that dates back to
the early British colonial period.
During the 17th-18th
century, this part of Nevis was sugar plantation territory. There's history
here; plantations, a "haunted great house" and even a duel on the eve of a
wedding.
But today, there's a modern
Caribbean-Scandinavian restaurant/bar called Chrishi Beach Club.
Come take a look.

The view from the bar looking out towards
St. Kitts
Just a 5-minute drive north of the
Four
Seasons Resort, you'll find this unspoiled stretch of beach and Chrishi
Beach Club.
This beach bar/restaurant was opened
around 2011-2012 by a Norwegian expat couple who fell in love with
Nevis during their visits here.

Caribbean bright red chairs and
Scandinavian minimalism
This sleepy stretch of Chrishi Beach evolved
from a simple beach bar into a full club with modern bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, and
event space.
It was Hedda and Christian Wienpahl's dream
come true.
Serving
European-Caribbean fusion style food, the Wienpahls have kept it welcoming and
unpretentious.
Truly an island vibe.

A clear view of
St. Kitts and the Caribbean Sea
Chrishi Beach has darker volcanic sand, not
the classic white-sand postcard beach. But it's quiet and uncrowded.
There are free beach chairs, umbrellas, and
showers. And the setup includes cabanas, swings for sunset cocktails at the
"Love Shack" (a beachfront nook), and even a 60-inch TV for sports or events.
You can find good snorkeling directly off the
beach, especially around the rocky points on either end, with healthy coral and
plenty of fish. But there are places where strong currents can appear,
especially in winter months when north swells roll in, so it’s not always ideal
for weak swimmers.

Open dining room with large screen TV on
the upper right
This undiscovered gem gets a high rating on
Tripadvisor, and while being family-friendly, it's still sophisticated.
Menu includes
fresh seafood, steaks, burgers, fondues, tapas, sushi rolls, and healthy picks
like salads or poke bowls.
Apparently. cocktails are a highlight with frozen drinks and creative
mixes.

The Loveshack Bar
Here's the Loveshack Bar where you can order
those dreamy island cocktails and enjoy them while on the beach.
Water is crystal blue, and tables and
umbrellas make for a convenient place to put your beach belongings.

Carib beer, the brew of the Caribbean
We had a pleasant stop here at Chrishi's,
drinking a Carib our Island brew. Weather was perfect, and the beach (as you can
see) was uncrowded.
Rather than emphasizing tourism, Chrishi
Beach is one of the last beaches on Nevis with a history tied to the island’s
plantation era and post-emancipation village life.
It's worth a look.
Would we recommend Chrishi Beach Club?
Yes!
