We've been spending some
time at an international island destination called
Isla Holbox.
It's where the beautiful people vacation, meet up with other beautiful people,
and beautiful families travel together.
Yes, kind of a paradise,
for sure.
In fact, it's a dream of
many young ones from Mexico's capitol city to live here, and you'll find LOTS of
Argentines working in the hotels, restaurants and bars.
Speaking of restaurants, we
met yet another Mexico City transplant working at this very popular cafe. She
was living her dream.

Map of downtown Holbox
On this map, the red arrow shows the location
of A Mar Cafe, not far from
our
hotel.
It's in the center of town on
the main
street, just down from the Park Plaza.

A beautiful woman eating her meal
Like most of Holbox, A Mar Cafe is casual
wear.
This young woman is eating a meal while
looking out onto the street.
Yes, Main Street is a simple sand road.

Cappuccino and beach hat
Due to our shorter stay in
Chiquila, we
arrived on the island of Holbox a day earlier than planned.
Our hotel wasn't yet cleaned and we had a few
hours before we could check in.
Perfect.
So in our wanderings we "discovered" A Mar
Cafe and sat down to lose some time.

Mango smoothie and beach hat
Diana, our server from
Mexico City was a great waitress, giving us quick and friendly service. She
spoke enough English (and she loved to practice!) and we spoke enough Spanish
that we really hit it off.
This is a typical mango
smoothie served here, and over time, I found out that they had the best on the
island.
WiFi was good too.
Oh yeah! And they roast
their own coffee!

Our bill
We came here several times during our stay on
Holbox. Diana said we should try their breakfasts as they were quite good.
She wasn't kidding. In the mornings,
the place was packed with lines out the door and into the street.
In our case our hotel offered us amazing
breakfasts included in our stay, so we never did get to A Mar Cafe to eat a morning
meal.
Our bill above for a mango smoothie and a
cappuccino came to 120Pesos, about $6USD before tip.
Would we go back?
Absolutely!
