There is a funky little beach town on the Pacific side of El Salvador called El Tunco. There are lots of hotels and hostels to choose from, and the photos below of Hotel Pupa will give you and idea what you will encounter should you choose to go.

If you want a break from the saltwater or surfing the waves, you can hang out here at the pool for a nice change.

A garden courtyard is always a nice addition to the view when you are hanging out in your room at the beach.

There are lots of hammocks and outdoor seating which makes it easy to meet other travelers.

Oscar the owner

Oscar is a very cordial guy and since he lived in the States, he speaks English. That always makes things easier when you travel.

Community kitchen

A clean, full service kitchen is available with a gas stove, refrigerator for your food bags (put your name on them!) and a stainless steel sink. Having a kitchen definitely cuts down on your food costs.
