Signs to Look Out for in Your Partner
Jennifer
Thompson
You love your partner, and you understandably want to make sure they are
happy and healthy at all times. It’s important to be able to recognize early
signs of health issues so that not only can you make sure they’re well, but if
there are any issues, you can get early treatment. So, let’s take a look at some
of the tell-tale signs that something might be wrong with your partner.

Change in sleep patterns
We all have sleepless nights from time to time, but a big and permanent change
in your partner’s sleep patterns could be a sign of something underlying. If you
notice your partner struggling with insomnia or notice that they’re more sleepy
in the daytime, it’s important to take them to a Doctor for a check up. It could
be something as stress from work, but it could also be sleep apnea or
depression. The earlier you get a diagnosis, the sooner their sleep patterns can
get back to normal.
Unexplained weight changes
If you’ve noticed your partner has lost or gained a lot of weight, it might be
indicative of underlying health issues like depression, diabetes, or even
thyroid problems. Weight changes can be a sensitive subject, so make sure you
talk to your partner delicately and help them get an appointment to find out
what’s wrong.
Signs of hearing loss
If your partner has been having the TV at an unusually loud volume or often
mishears what you’re saying, they may be experiencing hearing loss. No matter
what age you are, it’s important to get it checked out, as hearing loss can
happen to anyone. Sit with your partner and explain the
importance of routine hearing checks. Again, this can be a touchy subject,
so make sure you explain that you’re concerned and want to help them regain
their quality of life.
Mood swings
We all have bad days that lead to a bad mood, but if you’re noticing that your
partner has regular mood swings or even changes in their personality, it could
be indicative of some underlying mental conditions. Make sure you’re supportive,
and encourage them to get checked out as it could be depression, anxiety, or
even a neurological condition like early Alzheimer's.
Skin changes
Finally, if you’ve noticed some skin changes, it’s important to encourage your
partner to get them checked out as soon as possible. Look out for signs like:
• New or enlarged moles
• Unexplained rashes
•
Liver spots
• Regular skin lesions
While there’s a good chance it’s nothing to worry about, there’s always a risk
of skin cancer or other conditions which could affect their daily life. Eczema
is also a common issue when we age. If this is the case,
eczema cream can be applied to treat it.
While your partner is probably very capable of taking care of themselves,
sometimes when it comes to your own health you overlook small details. However,
by being vigilant, you can make sure they continue to lead a happy and healthy
life. Remember that approaching your partner about your concerns should always
be in a delicate manner to avoid embarrassment and arguments.
