“You can accomplish by kindness what you cannot by force.” Pubilius Syrus

With all that is going on around the world, and with all the focus on conflict and chaos, the quote above by Pubilius Syrus is a good reminder. The Spirit of Christmas is about sharing, kindness and humanity. It's about spreading Love and being a human mindful of others’ needs.

The Buddhists have an approach to life called "making merit." Since we are all human, Buddhists attempt to counteract the negative behavior they have done in their lives by doing two things positive in their place. This can take the form of helping an elder across the street, or opening a door for someone to go through first.

Do you have an elderly neighbor you could check on to see if they need a ride to the store or to the doctor? What about volunteering at a Food Bank this Holiday Season?

It is very healthy to give to those less fortunate and to think of someone other than ourselves. All of us who read RetireEarlyLifestyle and who are either planning for Early Retirement or who have already made that goal have been fortunate. Yes, we might have worked our pituties off, but here we are, surrounded by loved ones, eating decent food, maybe planning a trip.

We are blessed.

Hopefully this year, you could choose to add to the Peace On Earth part of the equation in everything you do. It will come back to you triple-fold.

Billy and I would like to thank all of you for being in our lives, and we wish all of you, whomever you are, wherever you are, the Merriest of Christmases, the Happiest of Holidays and a Peace-filled New Year.
