Wings Army

Mexico City, Mexico

Sometimes you just get the Jones for some BBQ chicken wings.

Here we were, in Mexico City, one of the most populated places in Latin America. Surely there was a wings place right?

Billy looks up on Google Maps, puts in our hotel address and finds out there is a Wings Army within walking distance. Terrific!

So off we go!

This was our first time to the franchise, Wings Army. Apparently this eating establishment was begun in Guadalajara, Mexico in 2005 with over 100 locations at this time. They are trying to capture the U.S. market as well.

Have you heard of them?

There were lots of wing flavors and styles to choose from and a large assortment of imported and boutique beers. We arrived a little early, but soon the place filled up!

Notice the selections of beers in various places to give you an idea of what they offer.

This being our first time in one of these restaurants, the military motif surprised us. The ceiling had a silk parachute draping down and American flags were in several prominent locations.

Every evening there were certain specials that were being run on their many choices of beer. On Thursdays, it was Dos XX that was on sale. We were able to get two Dos XX beers for $2.35USD, and twenty wings for about $12USD. Here you see their flavors of BBQ and Fried Parmesan.

The place was very casual and service was quick and friendly.

We enjoyed the music, the videos on the flat screens and we people watched as well. Young 20 - and 30 - somethings dating, some professionals in business suits and the omnipresence of digital gadgets.

Our bill

Our whole meal including tip came to about $20USD. At the bottom of the bill it states that this isn't a tax receipt, and that the tip is not included. One never knows about whether the tip is included or not and you need to check the receipt to be sure. In many, many restaurants, the tip is automatically included so if you don't check, you could be double tipping.

We were happy to have found this chicken wings bar. I wonder if they have a location near you?
