Spending
For a Single Guy
Billy and Akaisha Kaderli
As you all know,
we track our spending and have been doing so long before we retired in 1991.
It was how we ran our business and how we guided our personal financial lives
before we left the conventional working world.
Recently, Akaisha planned a trip to visit
her sisters in the States so I used this opportunity to see what a single guy would spend
for a month here
in
Panajachel, Guatemala.
For this month, I did not hold
myself back, eating
bar-b-que ribs on
Saturdays at 95Q ($13USD, one of our highest priced meals here in town) plus wine, and eating
out almost every meal of the day. The spending below includes meeting friends at
happy hours on the shore of beautiful Lake Atitlan.
The spending you see here is slightly
inflated due to a wedding gift I bought this month, as well as a trip to
Antigua
which including meals, various modes of
transportation and our hotel room. I also had some computer repairs, a dentist
appointment and I purchased some medicines.
My spending total was less than
$1,200USD per month. You can see in the chart below how it was categorized.
The point I am making is that
by seeing my unleashed spending below, this should illustrate that you have financial options
in retirement. And there are many places on the planet you can live comfortably
like this, without making a huge dent in your investments and savings.
