Picture it.
Wandering through
Mexico with
your camper, and setting up right at the beach on
Mexico's Pacific Coast.
Imagine that not only is it beautiful and
relaxing, but it's affordable!
Check out this peach-of-a-campground
below.

Map of Chacala with hotels, Chico's
Restaurant and Camping Chacala Jose all marked
Here you see the tiny, protected cove
where
Chacala Beach is located in the Mexican State of Nayarit north of
Puerto Vallarta.
Camping Chacala Jose is the large red "X"
right next to
Chico's Restaurant/Bar.

The security station
As you walk into the entrance of the
campground, which is to the left of the arches at Chico's Restaurant/Bar,
you will come upon the guard station as you see here. The morning we
arrived, no one was sitting there for us to ask questions or to register, so we
walked around the back.
There, two security guards were doing
laundry and washing their breakfast dishes!
I asked if we could get information about
pricing, and perhaps a phone number for this campground.
One of the guards came around, sat at
this table and wrote down the information for me.
What service!

The view from the campground entrance
to the sea
Turning around, this is the view from the
guard station. I don't know how many sites there are here, but the popular
ones are those closest to the ocean. There were tents, campers and vans.

Panoramic view of campground
Notice that the campground is very clean,
same as Chacala
Beach, which has won the enviable Clean Beach Award two years in a row.
There are public restrooms and showers
available for campers to use.

Camper with slide out, and a tent
This is how close you are to the beach.
Definitely accessible for your morning jog! Or if you want to do some yoga
while listening to the waves, it could hardly be any more convenient.

A caravan of camping rigs
This group of campers was from Canada,
making their way down the coast. Parked in the first row of the campground,
they face the ocean just feet away.
What a great set up!
And a memorable place to spend some time.

The ocean, the palm trees, and the sea
breeze
Under the palm trees you can see some
blue litter cans for trash which makes it easy to keep the campsite clean.
Shade is welcome and the sea breezes are
a pleasant addition to this delightful park.
If you are driving around the Mexican
Pacific Coast, make a stop at Chacala and stay a while!
