You can't taste tequila everyday, even when one is visiting through the
Golden
Triangle of Tequila-making.
We are, in
Arandas, Mexico,
part of the glorious Mexican Highlands, having some dinner in an upstairs
restaurant not far from the San Jose Obrero Church.
All of a sudden we hear the familiar
"clip-clop" of horses' hooves outside our balcony window.
Looking down at the
street, what do we see?
A bride, a groom and the whole wedding
party on horses, going to the Church for a Saturday evening wedding!

Wedding Party on horseback
Have you ever seen anything like this?
A Bride, the Groom and the Wedding Party
all on horseback on their way to the San Jose Obrero Church for the wedding.
Notice the lime green ankle coverings on
the center horse.

Two more riders
Maybe this is the Best Man riding
alongside the Maid of Honor.
But the horses and people keep coming!
Seven horses so far... and counting.

A young woman rides double
This must have been so exciting to ride
all together through town from the horse stables to the Church.
Ten horses in all!

The beautiful bride
Here's the gorgeous bride, off her horse
and in perfect poise. How did she not mess up her hair on that horse ride?
We wandered in off the Plaza and into
this crowd, and everyone was so dressed up. I thought I was at a premiere in
New York City.
It was a very classy crowd.

Always a family affair
In Mexico, every gathering is a family
affair. Members of every age, from newborns to great-great grandparents
attend. And in this case, everyone is in their finery.

The limousines were on the street to the
right, waiting to transport everyone to the reception.
(I wonder what happened to the horses?)

The Church starting to light up
The wedding party from a distance.
These last few people trailing out of the
Church are conversing before riding to the reception.
Photos are probably being taken inside
the Church, soon to be added to the family album.
What a delightful event to have stumbled
upon... twice!
I am sure there will be tequila served at
the reception.
