We are in
Salerno,
Italy, a coastal city in the Southern region of the country just down from
Anzio and
Rome.
In Italy, we have eaten at
Salumerias,
upscale restaurants,
cafes
and local
eateries.
Now it was time for a
classic burger with fries.
Going to a new restaurant
can be a bit iffy. But Cargo Burger Bar was fun and friendly. Plus their burgers
were very good!

Google maps helped us find this place.
Cargo Burger Bar's menu is posted outside so
people walking by know what is being served in the restaurant.
You can create your own burger or your own
salad combo or you can order something already arranged for you.
Upstairs seating
Cargo Burger Bar is also a steak house.
They serve everything from full steaks and
grilled chicken to fresh tuna.
They also offer Nachos, chicken wings,
omelettes, a variety of salads, hot dogs, wraps, and soups.
The drink menu is also diverse, with
non-alcoholic drinks, sodas and juices to various cocktails and craft beers.
It's like they have something for everyone.
Burger menu
We had a hankering for a classic cheese
burger and fries, and fortunately for me, there was a "Man's" size and a
"Lady's" size burger.
That made it easy.
The Special Burger menu
If we were staying in Salerno longer, on a
return visit I might have gone for the Salomon King burger.
The Irpino Burger is made from Italy's
special breed of cow that was brought to the country by invaders. It's been a
native breed of cow for about 2,000 years. The meat is tasty and the cows
survive in areas of Italy with a harsher climate.
The Baguette spicy beef is usually made from
the ribeye. It is sliced then pounded and seasoned. Combine this with aged
Italian cheese that is encrusted with pepper and you're sure to have a
flavor-filled sandwich!
Bar and cash register
Cargo Burger Bar stays open until 1:30 in the
morning.
Here is a full bar behind the counter and the
cash register is to the right just out of the photo.
I could be wrong, but it looks like "Kobe"
beef is being advertised on the sign to the left.
Burger and French fries
Ok, so here's our classic burger and fries.
Which was terrific, by the way.
However, we received those little packets of
ketchup and mustard which are never enough to cover the burger or to dip the
fries into. Other
than that, we'd highly recommend this place.
It was family-friendly and the Burger Bar
serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Our bill for 2
As you know, in Italy, in lieu of tipping,
there is a cover charge per person. This time it was $2Euro each.
Our bill totaled $26.50 Euros or about
$28USD.
Would we recommend Cargo Burger Bar?
Sure!
I'd want to go back and try some of their
other options.
