Happy
Hour in Paris, France, Rue de la Huchette

Currency Converter Rue de la Huchette
is an
animated Latin Quarter artery with one of the highest concentrations of
restaurants in the city. Greek specialties dominate.
We had been eating lamb gyros for a modest
price, and it was through the narrow medieval streets of this historic
district in the Latin
Quarter in Paris, France that we found this enchanting pub.
Beers were exceptionally affordable at
$3Euros each, and it was chilly outside. So we wandered in to the promised
warmth on the velvet couches and chairs.
Young couple enjoying their beers
Rue de la Huchette is renowned for its
vibrant nightlife.
This nameless bar with with its classic
French interior and cheap beers lured us in. We soaked up the ambiance, and
enjoyed glancing from time to time towards this young student couple.
No doubt they were discussing what all
Parisians converse about - food, art, wine, music and the latest politics.
Plush red velvet armchairs
This small bar featured typically traditional
French furnishings with gilded frames, mirrors and opulent red velvet armchairs.
Several bottles of champagne sit on the glass
shelving in the ornate golden frame.
Rue de la Huchette is a particularly colorful
part of Paris traditionally frequented by students, intellectuals, writers,
artists and the young in general.
Almost exclusively pedestrian, this street
nevertheless has an intense night life with no fewer than four pubs and several
bars.
While the street existed as early as 1200,
from the 17th century, the Rue de la Huchette was known mostly for its taverns
and rotisseries.
The young couple is in vivid conversation
Wisteria blooms hang down from the ceiling
referencing times of the past. Rue de la Huchette is part of Medieval Paris with
passageways unchanged for centuries.
While the outside streets were crowded and
noisy, one could dream away in this surrounding of vintage glamour with a touch of modern
chic.
No matter where one goes in Paris, it's
always enchanting.
There are always layers upon layers of
stories to tell.
