As medical costs in the States rise, and Assisted Living/Long Term Care contracts continue to back off services while increasing monthly premiums, people are looking for alternatives.

It's no secret that Assisted Living facilities in Mexico and other foreign countries have been eager to fill this need.

Below we take you through The Blue Home Assisted Living residence located in Jocotepec, Jalisco. Reasonably priced and offering full services, you can come here for a rehabilitation stay after surgery or for full-time living.

A typical room

The Blue Home Assisted Living facility is privately owned and operated by Nurse Maria Fernanda Blas who holds a specialty degree in Geriatrics. Her co-owner/partner is a nutritionist, Abraham Chávez who has a specialty degree in Food Science and Client Services.

Both have graduated from the University of Guadalajara (UdeG).

This residence opened in July of 2019.

In case you might not know, this area of Jalisco has one of the best climates in the world.

Designed to give you an "at home, cozy" feel, the staff is trained, attentive and emotionally warm, making you feel like family.

Blue Home Assisted Living is affiliated with local clinics and a physician can come on-site as needed.

Care plans can be individualized according to your needs, with someone administering your medications, giving you 24-hour care and supervision.

There are two people on staff who speak English.

Bathroom

As you can see, the bathroom is roomy and can be adapted as you need.

Staff with help you with feeding, bathing, and personal dressing. These friendly people will also give you hair-cuts, manicures and pedicures.

Open dining area and kitchen

Staff will take your dietary needs into consideration and will supply your favorite foods and snacks.

You can order from a designated menu and there are scheduled meal times. However, depending on the situation, one can arrange to eat after hours.

Community entertainment room

Blue Home Assisted Living also supplies movies, Cable TV, WiFi, off-site activities, special celebrations and there is a reading club.

Bright dining area and community room

Depending on your abilities, there are exercise classes, hikes and Therapeutic Yoga available.

This establishment is pet friendly.

Scrambled eggs and Caprese toast

If you need to go somewhere, meet friends or go to a doctor's appointment, they will provide local transport.

Your laundry will be done, and cleaning service is performed daily.

All of your medical records for glucose, blood pressure, weight and other necessary vital measurements will be maintained on the premises for you.

Sautéed chicken and rice

A variety of tasty and nutritious meals are provided.

If you have dietary restrictions, staff at The Blue Home will accommodate you.

If you are concerned about pricing, currently we were quoted - depending on the level of care required - fees range from $1,100 to $1,500 US Dollars per month.

Incidentals such as medication and personal medical supplies are not included.

If you have a loved one who wants to come and stay at The Blue House full time, there is a person who lives in the United States who will facilitate this transfer.

You will receive weekly or monthly status reports, photos of the conditon of your loved one, and you can speak with someone on-site via Skype or Face Time to answer your questions.

Payment is made via your American (or Canadian) bank, to BanComer bank here in Mexico. This is done via bank transfer or Western Union.
