Billy and I were in the
Spanish Colonial city of
Queretaro, Mexico.
We met up with friends, and
since we are known for wanting to frequent fine eateries, our friends suggested
this little French Bistro.
Say no more!
Off we went.
Well, sort of.
We tried locating this
place on Google maps and as we walked around, we kept overshooting the small
location - or it was shown on the map to be behind us, or on the next parallel street, or
...
There were three of us, all
with our phone maps out, walking chaotically, looking for Bistro Chez Julien.
It's right here!
Nope!
Back there!

Special 149Peso meals on outdoor chalk
board
Finally, we did what any
normal person would do - we simply called our friend and told him all three of
us were lost!
Our friend walked out of
this little door (as shown above) and hit the street looking for us.
We weren't far...
One minute the little
alleyway was empty, and the next minute our friend appeared there!
"But, but, but..." "We
did look on Google maps!" "Where IS this place, anyway?"

Closer look at special menu
Our friend gave us a wry smile as we jabbered
about our embarrassing predicament, and 4 minutes later all of us walked into
Bistro Chez Julienne.
While this Bistro serves French and European
entrees, the most popular choice is always the special menu as listed outside on
the chalkboard.
For 149Pesos, about $7.50USD, one has a three
course meal.
For the first course, one can choose from two
different soups or a salad. For the second course: chicken, beef or
a seafood pasta, and for the third course, a Crème Brulee or vanilla cake.

Intimate dining room
From our table, which sat seven of us, this
is the view of other seating in the restaurant.
It's a pleasantly small place.

Delicious seafood pasta
I chose a really tasty seafood pasta with
green olives and fresh parmesan cheese. The sauce was light but massively
flavorful.
For 200Pesos (about $10USD) Billy and I
shared a half-liter of red wine.

Beef in red wine sauce with sweet potato
medallions
Billy chose the beef with red wine sauce and
sweet potato medallions.
Of course it was also delicious, but Billy
said the meat could have been a better quality. This from my French Chef
husband, eating in a French Restaurant.
Then again, for under $8 a meal, the meal was
satisfactory and a good price.

Creme Brulee with raspberry
Billy and I both had the Creme Brulee for
dessert.

Vanilla cake with raspberry and chocolate
Our friend had the vanilla cake with dark
chocolate.

Our bill with wine and
tip was about
$29USD
Our total was 570Pesos which
included the tip.
After our meal, we and our
friends all said goodbye and would meet again the following day to go to the
popular Italian Restaurant,
Fiume 37.
Amazingly, we took a left
from the front door of Bistro Chez Julienne, and discovered how close this
restaurant was to
our
hotel!
So easy, now that we knew
the location!
Would we return?
YES!
