We were definitely getting into our time in Tapachula.

Billy took to the routine of looking at Google maps of towns and cities where we were visiting on this trip. By zooming in to the map, he could find out what restaurants, bars, museums or other points of interest that were near to us.

One night he said to me, "Let's go to the City Pub! They're supposed to have great wings."

So off we went.

Inside the City Pub

We hopped into a cab directly in front of our hotel room and asked to go to the City Pub. Being a popular place, the cabbie knew right where to take us. He charged us 35Pesos, about $2USD to get there. To return to our hotel room later that evening, the taxi charged us 45Pesos, less than $2.50USD.

We arrived at City Pub right about when they were opening. Flat screen TVs were in several locations and music speakers seemed to be everywhere - you know, just so you could hear the music.

** Editors note: If your ears are sensitive, bring earplugs to loosely place in your ears so you don't go deaf!

The bar

There was a choice of sitting up at the bar or at a table. We chose a table somewhere in the middle of the pub.

The music they played (along with the videos) was from the 70’s or so – Santana, Breakfast in America, Super Tramp, Elton John, Rod Stewart - all the old favorites, and we were reliving our youth.

Absolutely mesmerized by this trip into our individual pasts, we were grinning ear to ear and telling each other stories of attending live concerts, camping in the Appalachian mountains, and going cross country or to Mexico for the first time in our teens and early twenties.

We both agreed that we had "the best music back then."

It was Happy Hour and these ladies at the table next to us were enjoying Two-for-One Indio beers.

Notice the old advertisement on the wall for cigarettes.

There was a special on ordering 20 wings, so we ordered 10 Chipotle Ranch fried wings, and 10 BBQ wings. Along with our Dos XX beers, and feeling decades younger due to the music, we were having a great time!

Our bill

With 20 wings, 3 beers each plus tip, our bill came to 295Pesos, about $15USD.

What a great evening!
